I'm new to super 8, and this is my first post on this board. I've been talking to some people that have experience w/ super 8 and they tell me that the only place you can get Kodachrome-40 processed is
k-14movies.com. This confuses me because I noticed someone's post that said they could just take K-40 to wal-mart for processing. Now if you take it to wal-mart, do they just send it off to K-14 or how does this work. I'm gonna shoot my first roll soon and it would be a big relief to me to know that I could just take it to wal-mart rather than hassle w/ sending it off myself.

All Kodachrome film in the US gets processed at Dwayne's (which is also known as k14movies.com and www.happyd.com). Most Wal-Marts, etc. have a deal with Fuji so they send the film down to Fuji in Arizona, who turns around and ships it to Dwayne's.

If you go directly to Dwayne's, you'll pay about $9 per roll which includes return shipping (I'm not sure if that price is current). If your film is quite important I'd recommend you consider that option -- I have found Dwayne's direct service absolutely impeccable and very friendly. If you decide to save about 50% on your processing you can send it through Wal-Mart or to Fuji -- but you do run an increased risk of your film getting lost -- more people handling it, more shipping, more opportunities for mishaps... I have had it happen, but only once, and I haven't heard of it happening to anyone else so I think the risk is very low, and the 50% savings on processing is substantial incentive, plus you save a bit on shipping -- dropping it off at Wal-Mart vs. shipping it to Dwayne's saves a few bucks.

    Buy PL-59 mailers from B&H in N.Y.
It's $5.59 and it goes to Kodak Switzerland just like every other place does.
